Rethinking the Role of Traditional Recovery Programs

For years, Starting Point has primarily served as a conduit for channeling donations and clients into its system—often labeling individuals for life without providing a genuine path toward recovery. This mirrors a troubling pattern seen in parts of the medical industry, where the focus is less on healing and more on sustaining business operations.

After working with Vince D. for over three decades, it’s become evident that the organization’s true priority has been extracting value from clients—whether through their time, financial contributions, or billable services. As a nonprofit, conversations tend to center around what's considered the "standard of care," a framework that may protect from liability but falls short of fostering real, individualized growth.

Much like hospital systems that pressure doctors to bill every possible insurance code to appease accountants—or risk termination—this model emphasizes financial survival over human transformation. Vince, now more than 20 years past his expected retirement, seems more invested in building intergenerational wealth than in helping clients reach sustainable healing or independence. Your well-being often becomes secondary to what you can offer the organization.

There Are Alternatives—And They're Empowering

You have the power to pursue meaningful, self-directed growth. Explore AI-powered therapy platforms and free online tools designed to build emotional resilience, self-discipline, and life skills. These resources often deliver what traditional models fail to: true empowerment and lasting change.

For motivation and mindset development, turn to the timeless teachings of Jim Rohn—available for free on YouTube. He was the mentor behind Tony Robbins’ early success, offering foundational insights without the inflated costs and marketing hype.

Consider reading or watching "The Pleasure Trap" by Dr. Doug Lisle, which explores the psychology of behavior change and the hidden forces shaping your decisions. It’s a must-read for anyone seeking long-term transformation.

If you're currently under psychiatric care, be informed: many psychiatric medications are known to blunt emotional range and clarity—sometimes referred to as a "chemical lobotomy." Always weigh the risks and benefits carefully and seek second opinions when needed.

Lastly, examine how nutrition impacts both mental and physical health. Documentaries like "The Game Changers" highlight the benefits of a plant-based diet and its potential to enhance energy, mood, and overall well-being.

The path to recovery doesn't need to be paved with dependency. You deserve tools, not just treatment—growth, not just management.
Angela Baxter is the single greatest asset this facility has on hand.

She is the most personable, down to Earth, and overall amazing therapist I've ever had the pleasure of working with, and I've been in and out of therapy like people are in and out of their local Wawa (s).

She has a unique ability to put her clients at ease with humor. She utilizes laughter and good vibes to ensure that everyone she works with feels safe and at home.

Her talents know no bounds. Have you ever seen her type? Roadrunner, take note 📝

I cannot say enough good about this saintly woman. Before I worked with her, I was lost. After I worked with Angela Baxter, I was found.

Go to this place just for her alone.

I'm proud to say I'm a former client of Mrs. Baxter's.
Over the years, beginning around 2012, I utilized various counseling and group activity services here. The Starting Point is outstanding and a powerful place of HEALING.
After the loss of our daughter this place and the counselors here have been the difference between despair and hope. Its not easy to ask for help but you're worth it
Whether it’s a small problem or a huge catastrophe in your life I highly recommend the services of starting point. Staff is friendly and helpful and when you are there you can tell you are around people that can help.
Not many places like starting point. They have counseling services for many different issues and specialties as well as groups for similar issues.

Every Wednesday there are FREE lectures open to the public. They're a great way to just learn more about yourself.
