“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Four Seasons of Life
Nature offers us a beautiful roadmap for life through its seasons. Each one reflects a stage of growth and a spiritual lesson:
- Winter calls us to rest and renew.
- Spring awakens us to new beginnings.
- Summer celebrates growth and joy.
- Fall reminds us of maturity and gratitude.
Winter – A Time of Reflection
Winter teaches us to slow down, trust God, and prepare for what’s ahead. Like the 10th Step in recovery, it invites us to review our day, let go of struggles, and end with gratitude.
Spring – A Season of Renewal
Spring signals rebirth and hope. Begin each day with prayer and humility, remaining open to God’s will. Every sunrise is a fresh start, a reminder that life is a gift.
Summer – Growth and Celebration
Summer encourages us to deepen relationships, continue learning, and enjoy life’s blessings. In recovery, this is the season of healing and forgiveness—embracing our humanness and celebrating progress.
Fall – Gratitude and Closure
Fall reminds us that all things have a beginning and an end. It is a time to harvest the rewards of perseverance, reflect on lessons learned, and prepare for new beginnings with faith and humility.
The Seasons and the 12 Steps
- Winter: Surrender and acceptance (Step 1).
- Spring: Awakening to a Higher Power (Steps 2–3).
- Summer: Inventory and healing (Steps 4–9).
- Fall: Gratitude and service (Steps 10–12).
Closing Prayer
Lord, help us embrace each season of life with faith and gratitude. Teach us to trust Your plan, celebrate Your blessings, and grow through every change. May we walk this journey with humility and joy. Amen.
