Mission Statement

The Starting Point, Inc. is a non-profit educational and referral center. The educational emphasis is on personal growth in the spirit of partnership. Our goals are holistic, integrative, and wellness-oriented. To achieve these goals we coordinate and facilitate many programs including appropriate referrals to counseling and psychotherapy, workshops, forums, Twelve-Step meetings, and weekend programs.

The Starting Point provides a multi-disciplinary approach in helping not only individuals but their families as well. This approach combines the expertise of specially trained and dedicated health-care professionals. Extending that commitment to the community, The Starting Point sponsors a selection of innovative educational programs and workshops. Through education, referral to an appropriate source of treatment, exposure to the Twelve-Step philosophy, and the provision of many diverse services, The Starting Point is improving the quality of life for many people and the communities in which they live.

All services are conducted in an atmosphere of acceptance for the multitude of differences which humanity exhibits. We are committed to embracing all ethnic, religious, social, and racial groups, all sexual orientations, and we emphasize the need for recognizing the equality of both female and male genders.

We believe one’s lack of financial resources should not be a hindrance to their treatment. Therefore, donations are strongly encouraged as we strive to assist as many people in need as possible. Your donations are tax deductible.

The Starting Point is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization that depends on fundraisers, United Way donations, corporate giving programs, and private donations to continue our service for those in need.
