We are proud to introduce our Winter Semester 2024 of The Starting Point’s Adult School House! The Winter Semester features important, timely education programs to support those dealing with grief, trauma, and their own spirituality.

There are three tracks this semester with five classes each. Please take a minute to check if the track or class you are interested in is being offered in-person or online.

You can sign-up for a full track (includes all five classes for $150 fee or $40 fee per class) by February 20th. The secure registration pages that follow make your registration simple when using a credit card. Cash or checks are accepted at the Reception Desk. Checks can be mailed to:

The 4 “Hs” of Life - Honesty, Humility, Humor, and Healing

This educational program with Vince DiPasquale helps us look inside ourselves and learn the basics of a path to spiritual growth.

  • Time: Saturdays at 9:30 AM beginning February 24. On-Site unless the weather is bad, then the class will be offered on Zoom Only.
  • Fee: Purchasing this track for $150 will include all five classes. Classes may also be purchased individually at $40 each.

Vince DiPasquale, M.A., noted lecturer and educator in the Tri-State area has been active in the field of addiction and pastoral counseling. He is also the founder of The Starting Point, Inc. of New Jersey and his friendly manner and down-to-earth lectures has assisted thousands in understanding that the power to institute change comes from within.

Feb 24 - Honesty

Did you know there are 40 synonyms for the word “honesty?” The class will be devoted to how to be totally honest with yourself from where you are today.

Defined as a lack of false pride, this class will address humility as a way to have an open mind and the willingness to grow.

March 9 – Humor

Most of us appreciate a sense of humor, but do we have one about ourselves? Learn how to laugh at yourself, even when it is not funny.

Healing can be painful, but healing is about making oneself whole again.

March 23 – Living the 4 “Hs”

Understanding these “Hs” are the foundation of spiritual growth. Join the 4 “H” Club of Spirituality.

Understanding that Grief is Personal

In these classes you will come to a better understanding of your unique loss and grieving process along with guidance on how to better navigate your grief journey.

  • Time: Wednesdays at 6 PM beginning February 21 – On-Site or Zoom
  • Fee: Purchasing this track for $150 will include all five classes. Classes may also be purchased individually at $40 each.

Pat Obst, LCSW, specializing in loss and grief counseling, Pat has walked the grief journey with many clients and has experienced losses personally. This led her to create the Afterwards Journey, to help clients grieve, heal, and recreate their lives after loss.

Kevin Elsey, LPC, has worked with hospice for 20 years and today devotes his practice to helping his clients clearly conceptualize the “what” that is hampering their well-being with practical strategy to begin their journey of living a healthier, more fulfilling life. more fulfilling life.

A sudden, unexpected, or violent loss. A traumatic circumstance that is shocking or scary and has the potential to impact the emotional and physical self.

A loss not openly acknowledged or considered socially acceptable.

March 6 – Anger in Grief

Having resolution around our anger at the universe, God, and others, as well as, the person we lost.

Women Thriving Post-Trauma in Relationships

Through this transformational course, you will learn to recognize and release what’s holding you back from the love you deserve and desire, release the limitations of trauma, and embody your true self in relationships.

  • Time: For Women Only - Thursdays at 7 pm beginning February 29 – Online via Zoom
  • Fee: Purchasing this track for $150 will include all five classes. Classes may also be purchased individually at $40 each.
